FROM JANET RAE:
Hi Story Field Friends.
After reading the synopsis of our conference just posted on the Wiki, I felt compelled to let Tom and Peggy know what was "birthed" out of my experience. Below is a copy of the email that I had sent them.

Hi Tom and Peggy,
Thank you for creating such an amazing five-day journey and now for writing a synopsis of the event.
I wanted to let you know what has happened for me out of that experience. I came in feeling as if I had a strong commitment to our "oneness" and even knowing what that would take inside of a spiritual context. I spoke very little during the conference and found myself listening at a level I had never listened. The voices of certain participants were the mirror and the gift that transformed me that weekend.
I left my mopic vision of oneness at the Stupa and came home with a open heart for our environment, cultural diversity and the honoring of art, music and expression over managing time.
Next weekend in Tucson, I am part of a visionary team hosting a 3-day conference called Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream................you may recognize the title from the Pachamama Alliance. We are combining their efforts in Tucson with a World Cafe experience. We are flying in Aeron Miller to facilitate the World Cafe.............I thought this was key since the impact of youth activists was so powerful at Story Field. . I am attaching a pdf flier of the event so you can read more.
I will let you know the outcomes of our event.....................I can only hope that they bring the chaos and life changing views that Story Field initiated.
Tom...........many blessings to you and the love of your life during this important time of your being together.
With Appreciation,
Janet Rae

The StoryfieldConference really changed my attitude about the world, leaders, and myriad other things. It's still too early to see this trickle down into accomplished actions, but it's definitely changed the landscape of my mind, it's completely rearranged the things that I choose to talk about with people, and it's fundamentally changed how I do work. Those works haven't born fruit yet, but I believe that's because it's just been a few months. That, and the conference has had a "parallelizing" effect on me, rather than a focusing effect on me -- or rather, I've become deeply focused on holistic thinking.
One interesting chain, (one of many,) goes like so: (1) MarkTovey introduces me to DavidKorten. (2) DavidKorten invites me to his meetings. (3) I go, "Oh, the way these older non-Internet aware activists work is crazy, working in secret all the time." (4) I am asked by DavidSteele, "What would you like to contribute to our book on collective intelligence for a healthy & prosperous world?" (5) I respond with: "Working openly!"
I take the idea very seriously, that movement-making can be more important than any particular act. In my own personal dialog and interactions with the (geek) world, my focus has shifted dramatically, from: "Focus on the 1 (money-making) mission, at all (reasonable) costs," to: "Ask yourself, what way does this system (that I am a part of) want to go? and: What does the heart say?" I have put enormous emphasis on this article here: Awakening the Global Heart. I wouldn't have been able to read that article, pre-conference. It would have gone right past me.
I need to check in again, after a few more months: "What are the ripples out from the Storyfield conference?"
