"Elevator Speeches"

Page history last edited by PBworks 13 years, 6 months ago

I had a conversation with Chris Jordan last week and we were tallking about the challenge of describing the indescribable.  How have you talked about the Story Field Conference?  What captured the experience for you?

Here's my take:

There was something to trigger just about everyone.  Tensions surfaced that usually remain invisible: male/female, people of color/white, indigenous/Western, young/old.  And yet, for most, we created a space in which curiosity rather than polarization surfaced.  We LIVED a new story - one in which people expressed their truths and were heard.  The result was deep connections and a sense of community.  Many people, including me, said they were changed by the experience.  I know that there are an amazing number of conversations still happening.  For me, no matter where I am, I find myself tuning in to what the situation would look like through the eyes of others.  It is as if the voices of many dualities that used to be invisible to me are now constantly whispering to me, waking me up to a much complex and diverse world.
